José Bautista
MLB Athlete & Diesel Partner
José Bautista is a former MLB star best known for his time with the Toronto Blue Jays, where he became one of the most feared hitters of his generation over a 15-year career.
Career Highlights:
-
- Led MLB in home runs in 2010 (54) and 2011 (43)
- 6x MLB All-Star (2010–2015)
- 3x Silver Slugger Award winner (2010, 2011, 2014)
- Famous for one of the most iconic moments in baseball history — his 2015 ALDS bat flip following a go-ahead three-run homer against the Texas Rangers
Known for his plate discipline, versatility, and leadership, Bautista was more than a power hitter — he was a team leader respected on and off the field.
Since retiring, he has stayed active in baseball and philanthropy, continuing to impact the sport he helped define.
His story is one of perseverance, hard work, and excellence — values that align perfectly with what we build at Diesel.
Nick Reader
Entrepreneur & Business Leader
Nick Reader is an accomplished entrepreneur who made a bold transition from finance to the hospitality industry.
He began his career as the CFO of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, becoming the youngest CFO in NFL history at the time. After six years in the role, he channeled his business expertise into co-founding PDQ (People Dedicated to Quality) alongside Bob Basham, co-founder of Outback Steakhouse.
Under his leadership, PDQ has grown to 55+ locations across multiple states, built on a foundation of fresh, high-quality food and a guest-first experience. Nick is equally focused on his people — offering employees retention bonuses, scholarships, and home-buying assistance to build a culture where teams thrive.
His hands-on leadership style, financial discipline, and commitment to community have been key to PDQ's success — even through challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic.
Nick's journey from the NFL boardroom to the restaurant industry is a testament to the power of vision, adaptability, and putting people first.
