Since its inception in 2014, Diesel Fitness has been a hub for individuals and athletes seeking peak performance and transformative results. With a holistic focus on training, lifestyle optimization, and recovery, Phil has built a community that thrives on discipline, innovation, and measurable outcomes.


Career Highlights

Phil's professional journey spans nearly two decades and reflects his unwavering commitment to athlete development. As the Director of Performance at IMG Academy, he played a pivotal role in designing and implementing MLB Spring Training Prep Programs and guiding the USA Soccer U17 National Team. During his tenure, he shaped the training regimens of elite athletes while mentoring the next generation of sports performance specialists.


Before his time at IMG Academy, Phil honed his expertise in collegiate athletics as a Strength and Conditioning Coach at the University of Oklahoma and University of Iowa Football programs. These roles cemented his reputation as a leader in athlete conditioning, where he helped athletes push their limits and achieve peak physical performance. His early career also included a transformative stint at Mike Boyle Strength & Conditioning, where he worked alongside some of the best minds in sports performance.

He served as the CFO of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, becoming the youngest CFO in the NFL at the time. After six successful years in the role, Reader decided to pursue his entrepreneurial ambitions, co-founding the fast-casual restaurant chain PDQ (People Dedicated to Quality) alongside Bob Basham, co-founder of Outback Steakhouse.


Under Reader's leadership, PDQ has expanded significantly, with over 55 locations across multiple states. The chain distinguishes itself through its focus on fresh, high-quality food and a guest-centered experience.
